Less is more

If you were to read the play MacBeth, without any punctuation, the meaning, if you could understand it at all, would be very different. If you were to read almost anything, without any punctuation, it would be confusing, possibly stressful, and not very enjoyable.

Many of us are living lives without punctuation, going from one busy activity to the next, with smart phone in hand/mind, without any pauses, time for breath, time for ourselves to just be. There was a song on the radio this morning, one of the lines was “Our minds are ill”. We all read/hear/know about people who are suffering. Our busy-ness is not conducive to smart thinking, to calm, to peace of mind, to creativity, to noticing good ideas or when something feels good.

If we all need, and want, to feel good, slowing down is key. Less is more and sometimes when nothing is happening, everything is happening. Ideas are going to flow, we notice more of what we need, and it’s far kinder to ourselves and less stressful.

As a company, we’ve recently embraced smart working, working remotely, and in the process have saved ourselves hours of travel.  We have used that time in ways that suit us, in having balance, and being in the flow, instead of forcing things to happen. And strangely, the road ahead is easier, kinder, and feels a whole lot more peaceful. We’re doing less and achieving more, less striving, more allowing.  We’re still loving working with our clients, being a team, finding new business, having ideas and doing what we’ve always done, helping our clients to grow their businesses. But we’re doing it with less busy-ness, less stress, more calm.

Because of the nature of our work, sales and marketing, we’re constantly communicating;  we’re communicating happiness, calm and kindness. When you’re busy and stressed, you’re communicating something very different, which impacts results negatively.

Less really is more, whether it’s in relation to life or your sales target. Try it. And if you need any help we’re always around with a friendly ear, you can call us on 0121 347 6601.
