Calling compliance, how it helps us all

As a telemarketing company, we’ve been calling B2B for 11 years, so calling compliance is of course a fundamental part of our processes, ensuring we adhere to regulatory requirements, keeping our clients and us safe. And, crucially, not making sales calls to people who don’t want to be called.
Legislation states that all telephone numbers must be screened every 28 days and any numbers registered on the TPS or CTPS registers cannot be called for the purposes of sales and marketing, even if they are known contacts or customers.
The ICO are the body who monitor, deal with complaints and issue fines to companies who break the rules, you can read more about the rules here.
Being realistic, we only really want to call people who are happy to receive calls. I have a certain amount of time to make calls, and want to ensure I use it as wisely as possible. Sales best practice for Cre8 would be to qualify out early and spend your time on suspects that are a good viable fit. So if someone doesn’t want to be called, we could say that it saves our time for more productive sales activity. Sometimes it may be frustrating, but overall, it’s going to be quite useful in helping us prioritise our lists and leads.
It reminds me of a saying by Wayne Dyer, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. We use this system for our checks, finding it very cost effective and easy to use.
