Be your own cheerleader!

It’s Monday, it’s still a lockdown, and we still don’t know what the future holds. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or employee, we’ve got to keep ourselves in the right frame of mind to manage our circumstances. So often we speak to ourselves in a way we could not imagine speaking to a good friend. We focus on what we haven’t done, the problems and the challenges and we regularly beat ourselves up for what we’re not.

But, in these times, and in everyday life generally, we have got to be our very own cheerleaders. In short, be your own best mate. If you hear yourself say something that you’d never say to your best friend, do not even think about saying it to yourself again. Why are you any different?

Focus on all the small wins, the small victories and the little things you’ve done to keep going. Not the results, which always take time to appear, but the activity. The day that you didn’t feel like showing up, but you gave yourself a good talking to and got up and carried on. The day you juggled home schooling, feeling meh, worries about the cash flow and concerns about when or where the next customer was coming from. The day you did something you’ve been putting off for ages, and the day where you reached out to a colleague or friend who was struggling and helped to lift them up. The day when you showed up and did your best, which, remember, is EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Doing our best work, requires us to be kind to ourselves. If we’re kind to ourselves, we can deliver great results. We just have to keep going. Get that pom-pom out and give it a good shake 😉 This is as important as your to-do list; all the activities on it will be better for it with a happier you at the helm.

If you need any help we’re always around with a friendly ear, and the odd metaphoric cheerleading pom-pom, call us on 0121 347 6601.
